"Wonderful"

"It was a little hard to watch because the emotions were so strong, but in the end I thought SISU: Family, Love and Perseverance from Finland to America was wonderful. You have to have sisu and go on. Sisu and faith go hand in hand."

SISU in the U.P. - VLOG

Our nonprofit documentary SISU kicked off the Finnish American festival Heikkinpaiva in upper peninsula Michigan at Finlandia University's Finnish American Heritage Center at the NORDIC FILM Series.

We shared our powerful sisu documentary in 2 screenings, then met local American-Finns to learn about their sisu, take a real wood fired sauna and even got to jump in the snow eat local Finnish foods.

I was met with true Finnish hospitality. It was an honor to visit Hancock and Houghton again after 20 years, I went to hockey camp at Michigan Tech in 1993.

Wow.

"WOW.

What a beautiful documentary and story of family, grit, loss, and love.

It is so evident how you've poured your life and everything into making this film and I know this is going to bless your children and your children's children.

I'm inspired by your work and touched by your passion for family.

You've captured a gem of an emotional rollercoaster that will be timeless for generations to come!

Well done."

"Thank you for sharing your beautiful film"

Hi Marko,

I watched the screening of Sisu yesterday at Finn Fest. I just wanted to say that you did a great job telling your family's story.

I wasn't very close to my extended family growing up. I only saw my grandparents, cousins, etc, a couple times a year. Your film reminded me of the importance of a strong family structure and support system.

I am hoping I can provide a better support system for my son than what was offered to me.

Thank you again for sharing your beautiful film.

SISU: an Interview with Marko Albrecht by Finland Center Foundation

My mother Paivi was a very strong willed Finn with a lot of the famous Finnish trait, sisu. This strength, as well as the Finnish pride she instilled in me has made me who I am today. My mother embodied the core essence of sisu and like my mother I also live with this strength as my mindset. My entire existence has been shaped by sisu.
