What is SISU?

SISU is a Finnish word and way of life.  SISU means having the courage, strength and perseverance to conquer tragedy and rise above any and all adversity. SISU is the positive force deep within our soul that lights and drives a fire to enable us all to control the destiny of our life.

What is the SISU documentary about?

SISU documentary began as a story that was going to be told to producer and filmmaker Marko Albrecht's twins. The film was going to be about his mother Paivi,  Finland and what SISU meant to their family. Shortly after starting to make the documentary his mothers surviving brother Heikki was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and told he had 6 months to live.  The film chronicles death, birth, and  love. SISU is a documentary that profiles family as they conquer tragedy and triumph together. 

Is the SISU Documentary good?

Yes. But that is like asking is someone's baby good.  Marko Albrecht the Filmmaker of SISU has spent hundreds of hours shooting, researching and editing the film. As filmmakers we aimed to tell a documentary about love, family and perseverance in an inspiring way. We can't guarantee that after seeing the SISU documentary you will go outside run 5 miles, get a job promotion and be a better person, but you will be inspired to live each day with more passion, love your family more and never quit on anything. 

Do I have to buy the SISU documentary or SISU gear?

No. You do not have to do anything you do not want to do in life.  However by buying the SISU film or purchasing a piece of SISU Gear you are supporting the SISU campaign and we are sharing all proceeds with multiple non-profit organizations.
